Fazit: das Problem liegt nicht im VLC-Player sondern in der von Amazon bereitgestellten Datei. Diese lässt sich nur unter Android mit dem entsprechenden Player abspielen. Wir hatten versucht dieses Video auf einem PC/Laptop abzuspielen, das geht nicht so einfach. Es ist auch zu zeitaufwändig zu versuchen alles Mögliche dort zu ändern.
So bleiben wir dabei die Videos auf dem Tablet anzusehen.

ich habe mehrmals versucht mit zwei verschiedenen Rechnern die exe-Datei runterzuladen. Geht extrem langsam und bricht dann ab.

Als Laie kann ich und mein Weiblein (für die tue ich das hier) damit nichts anfangen. Ich hoffe dass unser Problem erkannt und gelöst werden kann.

Bei Amazon Prime wurde eine Filmstaffel gekauft. Teil 1 wurde angesehen und mit downloadhelper zeitgleich gespeichert. Die Datei ist ca. 550 mb groß und als mp4-Datei richtig bezeichnet (Filmtitel.mp4).
Jetzt möchten wir uns das Video offline mit dem VLC-Player ansehen. Der Film startet zwar, es ist aber kein Bild zu sehen und kein Ton zu hören. Lediglich ein paar Schlieren sind auf der Bildschirm zu sehen. Auch auf dem Windows-Player geht es nicht.
Laut Amazon-Beschreibung ist der download und die Wiedergabe offline möglich da es sich ja um bezahlte Ware handelt.
Was machen wir falsch oder was wurde übersehen?
Vorhanden: neueste VLC-Player Version, keine Änderungen durch uns vorgenommen. 32Bit-Laptop mit Win10.
